Don't Ask Don't Tell is Unconstitutional!

My son is an American soldier. It wasn't the choice I wanted for him. What parent would ever choose to voluntarily put their child in harm's way? So when you hear me squawking about world peace and ranting on and on regarding people doing crazy shit that could be detrimental to our men and women in uniform KNOW that it's more than a talking point...it's personal.

I'm doing all I can and whatever I can to protect my seed. That's why the news of a federal judge's ruling that Don't Ask Don't Tell, the U.S. military's ban on openly gay service members, is unconstitutional makes me smile.

The very soldier that might one day have my son's back won't have to hang his or her head in shame and be sent home based solely on their sexual orientation.

U.S. District Judge Virginia A. Phillips said the policy does not preserve military readiness, contrary to what Justice Department attorneys and many supporters have argued, because evidence shows that the policy in fact has had a "direct and deleterious effect" on the armed services.
Phillips said she would issue an injunction barring the government from enforcing the policy. However, the Justice Department, which defended "don't ask, don't tell" during a two-week trial in Riverside, will have an opportunity to appeal that decision.
Yesterday was a wonderful day for the men and women who choose to defend the freedoms we all enjoy!
