For the sake of leveling the playing field to get the point of this post across, let's remove a few things from the equation.Exclude the fact that women are incubation chambers solely responsible for the world's population or the dirty hand we were dealt by God that gives most women the metabolism of a sleeping snail.
Another culprit may be the source for the ballooning waistlines many women have to battle constantly after marriage.
A recent study at McMaster University revealed that women consume less calories when dining with men (especially men they're interested in) than when dining with the girls.
Of course, the caloric intake consumed by men remained the same...go figure!
When I first read the results of the study I was immediately transported to those days of old when my ex-husband and I were dating.
He would order all sorts of delicious looking goodies off the menu. And what would I order.....a salad.
I would discreetly wipe drool from the corner of my mouth as I watched him devour the largest steak, most heavenly looking baked potato, mouth watering plates of pasta with sauces that were so aromatic I could almost taste it just by watching him chew.
Smiling seductively as he asked me if I was sure I didn't want anything else, I would always (almost in a whisper) say "no, I'm good". Now I realize I was whispering because the lump in my throat from self induced starvation was constricting my vocal cords!
Girls we might need to wise up and focus more on being ourselves than being what we think men want us to be.
Chris Rock joked in one of his stand up routines about what dating actually was. He said that you don't really meet the real person when you're dating. You meet their representative.
Once the honeymoon is over and we're about as accustomed to our hubby as we are those flannel pajamas that have replaced all our cute little nighties we tend to get a bit too relaxed. Perhaps we try to catch up on all the things we didn't eat when we were dating.
Why do we view a hearty appetite as being unattractive in the first place?
One thing I've learned in this life is no matter how hard you try to be someone else or the person you feel others want you to be...the real you is always revealed in the end.
So, the next time you're out on a date ladies remember -
Bon Appétit!
