Today Facebook.....Tomorrow, The Fruit of Your Womb
A few months ago I caught a small story on the news about a high school teacher who had been fired for posting some of her vacation pics on Facebook.
I thought to myself....okay, another moron posing in her bikini next to a cop car or simulating some lewd act....probably one of those "Girls Gone Wild" photo sessions. Boy, was I wrong!
Ashley Payne only posted a few pics of herself holding alcoholic beverages. She took photos at the Guinness factory in Ireland and sipping wine in Italy
I mean seriously folks. The school system claims it was poor judgment on Ms. Payne's part as it may give the students a negative image of their teacher. I say.... it's the stupidest thing I've ever heard!
I really hadn't given the story a whole lot of thought until an incident occurred at work last night.
A disgruntled coworker was venting about an upcoming change in the way our work week is scheduled. The employee made a statement on his Facebook page about not liking the idea and that he was planning to start looking for work elsewhere.
And it somehow got back to the department manager. There was to be some big "meeting" about it but I never heard anything else.
The only problem I see with what the employee did was log in to a Facebook account while on the job. What he says on his Facebook page....is his business.
You have to draw the line some where.
The Georgia school teacher has filed suit against the school district. I'm anxious to see how it all plays out.
