Nobody Likes a Copy Cat!

We live in a world where competitiveness is one of the driving factors in all that we do. Although competition can often be a good thing there are times when it can spiral completely out of control.

We want a better car than our neighbor's. We want a better house than our sister's. We want to live a better lifestyle than we can afford which generally causes a great deal of money problems.

Whatever happened to being comfortable and satisfied with what we have?

Are we so vain and greedy that our only motivation in life is "out doing" or attempting to appear to be out doing the Joneses?
I've never been a pretentious person. My accomplishments and failures have molded me into the person I am. Very few people ever hear me rambling on about the type car I drive, where I live, what furnishings are in my home or how much money I make.

Unfortunately, I seem to be surrounded by people who feel completely opposite.

I don't care where you purchased your last 52" high definition TV. It doesn't matter how much you paid for the last renovations on your home. I didn't ask you how much your designer handbag cost....you know the one you shove on the floor underneath your desk just like I do my cheapo bag when we arrive at work!

Grow up people! Life is about so much more than material possessions. Stop trying to keep up by attempting to emulate other people.  Be the unique individual you were created to be.
