Never Give Up on Your Dreams

buzz this

Ask a classroom full of first graders what they want to be when they grow up and you’ll hear everything from president to rocket scientist ( performing these duties at the same time, of course!).

This isn’t just the innocence of childhood talking. It’s the fact that as children we still believe in the power of our dreams. And then one day we grow up and allow life, negative people and bad situations to stop us from dreaming.

Our Dreams Are Valid

Our dreams are valid and we do have the right to succeed. Playing small to make others look big serves no purpose. So often we give others permission to steal our dreams. Being told all the reasons you can't succeed, all the reasons your way won't work, all the reasons your line of thinking is irrational gives people who don't matter too much power over our lives.

By the time the world finishes knocking you down, your new miniature sized dream begins to seem just as much of an impossibility as the bigger ones you originally discarded. At this point, the fear factor is like the proverbial albatross around your neck.

You're afraid of failure. You've always been told that failure isn't an option. And for many people it isn't.

The difference between those people and you is they've at least tried. And even though they may have failed once, twice, or maybe more they didn't lose sight of their dream. They still hunger for and are motivated by the reality that success is always within our reach.

As my dear grandmother always loved to say "Nothing beats a failure but a try".

Carpe Diem!

Seize the day! Stop living in fear. If you don't succeed the first time, pull yourself up by your boot straps and try again - never give up. Remove those mental obstacles - I don't think I can. I'm not good enough. So many others have failed. I'm not smart enough. Stop living in fear!

The moment when you first wake up in the morning is the most wonderful of the twenty-four hours. No matter how weary or dreary you may feel, you possess the certainty that, during the day that lies before you, absolutely anything may happen. And the fact that it practically always doesn't, matters not a jot. The possibility is always there. ~  Monica Baldwin

Nothing comes to a sleeper but a dream. Make today the day you decide to start working toward being a success. This is something that can only be measured by you. People can categorize who is or isn't successful but by who's standards - theirs or yours.

What others think at this point is or should be irrelevant. It's about you.
