Technorati Fave Your Favorites

buzz this

You read hundreds of blogs a week. Some you enjoy tremendously. Others you pay a visit out of curiosity or necessity. Then there are a few you drop in on just out of common courtesy because they've visited you.

Stop for a moment and try to remember the last time you faved one of your favorite blogs to Technorati. I know I'm guilty of not faving blogs I enjoy. And then I have the nerve to complain! Complain about what you're asking. Well I'll tell you exactly what I complain about.

I don't visit Technorati very often but when I do I always check out their list of the 100 most popular blogs. And oh my God or (OMG! for the Twitter addicts!). The list leaves me speechless.

Sure some blogs that have made this prestigious list are really great blogs. Then there are others that make me wonder what in the hell Technorati could possibly be thinking. But it's not Technorati that's doing the thinking. They're only gathering statistics based on information from other Technorati users.Their list is merely based on what we (the blogosphere) have chosen as the most popular through fav-ing and adding to their blog authority.

Microsoft Store

These extremely popular blogs haved been faved by thousands if not millions of people. Another measurement Technorati uses is the amount of "authority" a blog has. When I first saw a Technorati authority widget I thought to myself..."Wow, these guys must really be smart. They've got 'authority'. Shows how much I knew. Technorati Authority is the number of blogs linking to a website in the last six months. The higher the number, the more Technorati Authority the blog has.

It's not that John is smarter than Jim. [John and Jim are fictitious names. Their true identities have been changed for their protection]. It's all about link love. For example, if I publish a post that someone finds interesting enough to mention in a post on their website (by linking back to my post within their post - gee that was a mouthful), that's a plus in my Technorati authority - not rocket science.

In the grand scheme of things, the issues I've discussed may not matter one hill of beans to anybody. But for those you who have ever wondered how on earth some of these blogs have made the list...now you know.

Now let's apply what we've learned from this post ---->Add to Technorati Favorites...!

I just had too....lol
