How Often Should You Post on Your Blog

This might be a question many people are confronted with when they first start blogging. I've noticed several different styles depending on what type blog it is. Finding what's right for you may be the key to authoring a successful blog....

Most personal diary and or blogs with one author tend to post at least daily. Then you have your magazine/news style blogs. These latest news update spewing machines might post several times a day.

Then there are those blogs that only post a few times a week. What would work best for you and why.

If you're the only author and your blog is relatively new, posting at least daily is a good idea. By posting this way, your content will generally be higher in quality and more in-depth. You're able to take your time and provide your readers with a well thought out message for the day - not feeling rushed to ravage the search engines looking for whatever's hot throughout the day.

Blogs that post several times a day usually have a group of authors dedicated to posting their share of articles, news, tips, and other information to readers. In other words, it's a team approach not a one man show. It's a lot of work and often difficult for one writer to keep up with.

Blogs that tend to post just a few times a week are blogs that have a relatively large and well established readership. This is advantageous in that your post remains on your home page longer and it's definitely less work and sometimes LESS truly is MORE.

No matter what style you use....you want someone to see it! If you didn't, you could write in that journal that's been collecting dust on your night stand instead of sharing it with the world. So, how do pages, your pages, get indexed in Google. Say what you will Google is the search engine powerhouse presence on the web, hands down.

Googlebot is the search bot software used by Google, which collects documents from the web to build a searchable index for the Google search engine.

The Googlebot fetches or crawls billions of pages on the web. The program that does the fetching is sometimes referred to as a robot, bot, or spider. What influences how often the Googlebot visits your site?

The more content (pages) your site has....along with the number of backlinks and pagerank popularity all determine the frequency in which the bot visits. Googlebot frequency can be as low as a couple of times a week and as high as several times daily. Bots Visit has the code for a neat chicklet display you can add to your blog to keep up with how often you're visited by Googlebot. Don't be to worried about the pagerank popularity aspect of it. The more you continue to build and establish your presence on the web - the rest will follow.

Remember - "If you build it, they will come!"
