Find Your Best Time to Write

I am definitely not a morning person. Although, I generally stay up until sunrise.  I prefer to write late at night and schedule my posts for more appropriate publishing times and then nap throughout the day. It might seem like an odd thought. Someone up pecking away on their keyboard at 4am (the time it is now) but that's the time I get my best writing ideas.

Sometimes if I'm not writing and decide to take a nap I wake with a mind full of ideas.I know that sounds strange but this works for me. If I haven't logged on to the computer yet, I'll grab a pen and the notepad I keep beside my bed and jot down the ideas, fragmented thoughts and theories that are dancing around in my head.

By this time the creative juices really start flowing. As I write notes, more ideas take shape. By the time I'm finished I've compiled a couple of pages of chicken scratch. It always gives me a sense of relief, though. Ideas for writing are a crucial part of the planning process. Unless you're someone who can sit down and start belting out great content - a few notes here and there to give you some direction is a must. So, I can relax a bit more once the ideas for whatever I'm planning to right about are out of my head and on paper or in my blog's post editor.

Figure out when your creative juices are at their peak. Once you determine this you can plan your time around it. If you find ideas and topics that you're considering writing about spring to life for you early in the morning when you're having that first cup of coffee - start jotting them down or if you have the time head to the computer and put those ideas in draft form. Knowing how and when you work best makes writing - which should be something you love - less stressful and keeps you from working against your body's natural rhythm. Just let it flow- literally!

So think about this, the next time you come up with an idea to write/blog about. Have you found your best time to write?
